A postal station in the late 1800s, then a stopover point for meals and a rest during the first half of the twentieth century. And for the last thirty years, the Due Ragni has served as both a hotel and restaurant and, has earned an enviable reputation for the warm and courteous manner with which it welcomes and accommodates guests.
Due Ragni…why ?
Since the late forties, just after the Second World War, the hotel is transformed into a hotel, thanks to an ambitious expansion project which involved the construction of a large glass body, ambitious technological challenge for the time.
Property asked, to a sculptor specializing in iron, to realize a series of gates and railings of protection. Toni Benetton, passionate about his job, did more: in addition to rails port required he realized two large wrought-iron spiders that have become a symbol of the hotel and restaurant.
Meanwhile Toni Benetton has become one of the most famous Italian sculptors and one of the greatest contemporary artists, the most influential figure in the field of “macrodimensioni”.
His works were required not only in the Veneto, but also in Germany, Switzerland, United States, Ex-Yugoslavia and Japan.
The two big spiders, given the success of the inn and restaurant of the hotel first and then, have become synonymous of good fortune and prosperity not only for owners but also at local level:
in Treviso, you say "spider brings gain" and it seems that the origin of that is attributable to the two arachnids.
Today, the son of the sculptor decided, in agreement with the family Fagotto, to officially recognize the two works, giving even more prestige to the hotel and restaurant in Treviso.
